Photonics Finland is running an event in Turku Finland on the theme of Photonics for Food Industry.

Photonics applications are widely used in the food industry for food cultivation, quality control as well as automation. Spectral cameras detect the fertilization needs of the fields, different sensors allow self-control of agricultural machines and are able to detect food counterfeiting. Light creates favourable growth conditions and different wavelengths can affect, among other things, bacterial strains.

The Photonics Opportunities for Food Industry Seminar brings together two seemingly distinct fields and a representative array of photonics and food industry experts. Food production is a very important part of society, both in terms of economy and employment, but also as a part of human health and well-being.
